The NSASD State Convention is approaching quickly, so please get your registration forms in! The theme for this years convention is “Oh the Places You Can Go!” The Convention will be held at the Ramada Inn, Aberdeen SD.

The state convention is a great place to meet nursing students from all across South Dakota, learn more about different areas of the nursing profession, and visit with vendors about jobs and internships.

Each school is asked to bring 3 items for the silent auction. If you have any questions concerning the auction or any others regarding the convention please contact the convention chairperson Margie Washnok
at DrMargie.Washnok@presentation.edu

- The annual convention of NSASD is usually held the second or third weekend of February.

-  You do not have to be a member of NSASD to attend the convention. You do have to be a member to run for an office or be a delegate.

-  The Convention Host Committee establishes pertinent convention details such as registration fees, focus sessions, guest speakers, schedules, etc.

-  There are three business meetings held during convention.
    1. Pre-convention Board Meeting: this is a closed meeting. However, it is open to all
candidates running for an Executive Board office. Candidates running for president
    should especially plan on attending.
    2. Convention Business Meeting: this meeting is open to everyone. The privilege of
making motions and voting is reserved for the House of Delegates and Executive Board.
    3. Post Convention Board Meeting: this meeting is held following the awards banquet.
All newly elected officers must attend.

-  Convention is the time when proposed bylaw changes, policy changes, and resolutions are brought before the House of Delegates and the Executive Board. Elections are also held at this time.

-  A silent auction is held. Each constituent is to donate at least two items to be auctioned.

-  The highlight of convention is the awards banquet when outstanding individuals are recognized for their achievements and the NSASD Awards are presented.

-  Each constituent attending convention is required to present a skit at the awards banquet. The skit must relate to the convention theme. A trophy is awarded to the constituent with the winning skit.
